If you are looking to have a quiet time out of the hustle and bustle of Lagos, Abeokuta is just the perfect place for you.
Abeokuta is home to one of the most visited tourist attractions in Nigeria; Olumo Rock.
You get to learn the history of the town and its people. There are tour guides and photographers available (make plans to tip them though). Make sure to wear comfortable shoes because you will be climbing a lot, there are elevators but I doubt you’d get the best experience using the elevators especially as a first time visitor. The view of the town from the top of the rock makes every ‘stress’ worth it. Absolutely stunning!
You can also visit the art gallery located in the premises if you are a lover of the arts.
The experience is definitely one for the books and I definitely recommend.
Tips & Advice
- Book train tickets early enough, ideally two days to your travel date.
- It is advisable to go during non-peak periods e.g not during festive periods.
- Wear comfortable clothes and foot wear
